Scholarships for Students Entering the 2019 Academic Year

ACEC Scholarships

ACEC Tennessee is committed to education and the future of the engineering profession and awards up to two $1,000 scholarships at the state level annually. ACEC Tennessee scholarship winners will be submitted for national scholarship consideration. Additional information about ACEC National scholarships, which total $20,000, can be found here: https://www.acec.org/awards-programs/scholarships/

The ACEC Tennessee Scholarship is open to students entering their junior, senior, fifth or graduate year in the fall of 2019. To qualify, applicants must be a United States citizen pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Tennessee engineering or land surveying program from a department with at least one ABET-accredited program. Candidates for the CASE scholarship must be enrolled in a master’s degree program in structural engineering in the fall 2019 semester.  

The deadline for submitting an application to ACEC Tennessee is January 11, 2019. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Graduate students must submit both undergraduate and graduate transcripts. ACEC Tennessee scholarship winners will be announced in February 2019, and National the following October.

ACEC scholarship applications are scored against the following five criteria:

  1. College grades (cumulative GPA) | max. 20 points
  2. Essay | max. 25 points
  3. Work experience | max. 27 points
  4. Recommendation | max. 15 points
  5. Extracurricular activities | max. 13 points
    1. Student organizations | max. 4 points
    2. Community activities | max. 4 points
    3. Organized athletics/musical activities | max. 2 points
    4. Other | max. 3 points

Tennessee Engineering Foundation Scholarships

The Tennessee Engineering Foundation (TEF) awards up to four $3,500 scholarships annually to rising juniors or seniors enrolled in accredited engineering schools in Tennessee. These scholarships may be used for tuition, books, room and board, or any other charges related to registration for the fall or spring semester in the 2019-2020 academic year.

TEF scholarship applications must be submitted by January 11, 2019. Winners will be announced in March.

  1. College grades (cumulative GPA) | max. 28 points
  2. Essay | max. 25 points
  3. Work experience | max. 20 points
  4. Recommendation | max. 17 points
  5. Extracurricular activities | max. 10 points
    1. Student organizations | max. 3 points
    2. Community activities | max. 2 points
    3. Athletics | max. 2 points
    4. Other | max. 3 points
