AECOM | TVA Kingston Water Quality Improvement Program

The Tennessee Valley Authority’s Kingston Water Quality Improvement Program caps TVA’s commitment ten years ago following the ash spill to restore and upgrade the site, eliminate wet disposal of ash, and be in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) CCR regulations. Three primary elements include: a state of the art bottom ash dewatering technology, a flow management project re-routing process and storm waters, and ash closure project. The $55 million dollar investment required 18 months of construction, over 100 workers, and 215,000 work hours; enabling the Kingston Plant to provide environmentally friendly, sustainable energy for the next 20 years.
